ISBN-10: 1576262332 ISBN-13: 978-1576262337 It is clear from Dr. Foad Nahai’s and Dr. Roderick Hester’s heartfelt foreword to Bostwick’s Plastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery, Third Edition and the preface by Dr. Glyn Jones that John Bostwick had a profound effect on those privileged enough to work with him. Joy and sadness both flow from the words of his friends, and such fond memories came flooding back as I read these essays! I append my name to the list of John’s devotees. It was John who encouraged me to pursue refinements in microsurgical breast reconstruction and short scar mammoplasty. He was instrumental in the launch of my lifelong interest and love of plastic surgery of the breast through his nurturing friendship and countless brief conversations. I will forever be indebted to John Bostwick as a role model of academician, teacher, and human being. When we lost John on January 11, 2001, the legacy of his wonderful textbook Plastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery came under the care of Karen Berger, his longtime friend and publisher at Quality Medical Publishing (QMP). Karen, in her inimitable and thoughtful fashion, tapped Dr. Jones to keep the book fresh, current, and alive for the next generation of plastic surgeons. Dr. Jones has clearly been up to the task.
