ISBN-10: 1451143125 Atlas of Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery is composed entirely by Jonathan Dutton, MD, PhD, Professor and Co-chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the preface, Dutton states his intentions for the book to provide a “quick and reasonably comprehensive” reference on “basic oculoplastic procedures that are directed towards entry level and less experienced surgeons in oculoplastic procedures.” The book's direction excludes “the trained oculoplastics specialist,” instead addressing “general ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, dermatologists, and some general plastic surgeons.” Classically, the specialty of oculoplastic surgery is divided into 3 areas—eyelid surgery, lacrimal surgery, and orbital surgery—and these 3 main sections are addressed in the atlas. Each section begins with a discussion of relevant anatomy in that particular area, as well as surgically correctable conditions that occur in the anatomic area, and it concludes with some recommendation of a procedure for each given condition. The section on orbital anatomy is quite excellent both in text and graphics, which is not surprising since Dutton's strength is surgery of the orbit.
