Abstract
Because of Winn-Dixie is about a girl named India Opal Buloni, but everyone simply calls her by her middle name, Opal. When Opal is 10 years old, she moves with her father to Naomi, a small town in Florida. Opal leaves her friends behind, so she’s really lonely. One day at the grocery store, she finds a stray dog. Opal adopts him and names him after the store, Winn-Dixie. Winn-Dixie’s really cute and friendly. Lots of people seem to like Winn-Dixie so lots of people seem to like Opal too. Opal makes a lot more friends during that summer, all because of Winn-Dixie.
