Abstract

The book culture of the Germans of the Crimean ASSR is of interest for the researchers of the regional history, culture and national policy. The article deals with the system of supplying the republics German population with printed products during the 1920s30s. The channels of national literature supply to the Crimean Autonomous SSR, the degree of supplying German schools and political-educational institutions with it, as well as the level of literacy and education of the Crimean Germans during the reviewed period, are analyzed. The formation of local traditions of German-language publishing and its share in the production of the Crimean State Publishing House are shown. The facts proving a low level of supply of national literature to the Germans of the Crimean ASSR, as well as narrowness of its topics, are given; the reasons for these phenomena are analyzed.
