Bonobos (Pan Paniscus) and Alossexual Behavior: A New Concept for the Uses and Practices of Sex among this Great Apes

Abstract

The present work is theoretical and the goal is to synthetize the uses of sex by bonobos in the social scenario and to propose a new concept. I explore aspects with impact in the sexual behavior, as: ecology, feeding and access to food, pedomorphism, tension-reduction strategies, play context, maintenance of ??social order??, cortisol levels, migrations and the establishment of alliances, among others, which all together proportionate this ??social sex??. In order to understand alossexual in its multiple functions (as a total social fact), it?s necessary to approach a gamma of issues linked with this behavior.
