Abstract
Bone images in a patient with hypercalcemia and a cystic parathyroid mediastinal adenoma showed both symmetrical and marked asymmetrical uptake of 99mTc-diphosphonate, particularly in the long bones and pelvis. Microscopic examination revealed osteitis fibrosa cystica in the bone. 99mTc Sn-phosphate bone scans are indicated in patients with hypercalcemia or suspected hyperparathyroidism.
