Abstract

Kohler's disease is a rare self-limited osteochondrosis of the tarsal navicular bone affecting children between the ages of 3 and 7 years. The condition is more frequent in boys than in girls, with a ratio of 4-6:1. The diagnosis may be missed because of the usual mild clinical manifestations and the difficulty in distinguishing the radiographic abnormalities from the normal radiographic changes of bone growth. In this report, bone scintigraphy was useful in detecting an avascular disorder of the tarsal navicular bone characteristic of Kohler's disease.
