Abstract

In the light of the relatioh established by Thomas Aquinas between honesty (honestas) and beauty (pulchrum) or decorum (decus) in S. Th. II-II, q. 145, a. 2, the present paper tries to formulate an application of this doctrine in university life. The fulfillment of our duties as university teachers, specially by practising some of the moral virtues, like studiosity, veracity, humility and magnanimity, among others, will reflect a splendor of bona vita. Without denying the value of the physical beauty, our task, which is not only instructing but should be a whole magisterium, will turn us into people with moral beauty.
