Bolsonaro: The Fate of The Paris Climate Agreement and Global Climate Change Under A Shift In Brazilian Domestic Politics

  • The Amazon rainforest, one of the planet’s largest natural defenses against global warming.[1]. In light of these uncertainties, this paper seeks to discern what the first 100 days of the Bolsonaro administration may signal for Brazil’s environmental future. It establishes an evaluation of whether President Bolsonaro possesses the necessary support to fulfill his promise of withdrawing from the Paris Agreement through an exploration of the congressional dynamics Bolsonaro faces, this includes the dynamics of “coalitional presidentialism” and the executive power of legislative agenda-setting from literature on Brazilian politics
