Abstract
The present study was designed to investigate the role of δ-receptor subtypes in specific brain regions on antinociception and body temperature (Tb). [D-Pen 2,5 ]enkephalin (DPDPO), a δ 1 -preferring receptor agonist (δ 1 >δ 2 ), and [D-Ala 2 , Glu 4 ]deltorghin (DOLT), a δ 2 receptor agonist, were microdialyzed into the periaqueductal gray (PAG) or the preoptic anterior hypothalamus (POAH) of freely moving rats. In the PAG, DPDPO (3.3 nmol/μl) and DOLT (4 nmol/μl) produced analgesic responses, 71.6% and 64.8% maximum possible analgesia (%MPA), respectively, in the cold water tail-flick test (CWT)
