Abstract

Background: Nowadays, an increasing number of people engage in physical activity, not only to maintain their physique but also to preserve their health. Fitness clubs offering various group classes have gained popularity. Some individuals prefer to train individually and, therefore, opt for personal trainers. The aim of this study was to answer the question of which individuals have a greater awareness of their bodies, those who train with a personal trainer or those who train in a group setting. To achieve this goal, the following research questions were posed: Do individuals training with a personal trainer have a greater body awareness? Do individuals training with a personal trainer understand what constitutes correct body posture and the fundamental movement patterns? Methods: The study was conducted with a group of 40 individuals aged 20 to 35, including 20 individuals who trained with a personal trainer and 20 who participated in group classes with a focus on endurance and strength. A research method involving a diagnostic survey with a questionnaire as the research tool was employed. Results: The majority of individuals training with a personal trainer are aware of what constitutes correct body posture. In contrast, among those attending group classes, only half of the respondents were aware of the correct answer. Individuals training in groups are unaware of the fundamental movement patterns. Individuals training in groups do not realize the importance of body awareness. Conclusions: Training with a personal trainer can bring even more benefits. Not only does it improve the quality and correctness of movement, but above all, it increases awareness of one's own body.
