Abstract

Objective: There are disagreements in determining the relationship between BNP levels and atrial fibrillation with and without reduced ejection fraction. The aim of this study is to survey the concentration of B - type natriuretic peptide in patients with atrial fibrillation. Patients and Method: BNP levels and ejection fraction parameters on echocardiography were surveyed in 56 patients with atrial fibrillation. Results: BNP levels in group with normal ejection fraction is lower than in groups with reduced ejection fraction ( median 172.20 pg/ml vs median 437.35 pg/ml). Conclusion: The BNP level in patients with atrial fibrillation may rised even in case of normal ejection fraction. Key words: BNP levels, atrial fibrillation, B - type natriuretic peptide, ejection fraction
