Abstract

A 60-year-old woman with an asymptomatic left ovarian cyst was referred for laparoscopic resection. Her surgical history included a laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed 14 years previously. The present laparoscopic procedure revealed multiple gallstones incrusted on the peritoneum of the pouch of Douglas (“blueberry sign”; Fig. 1) and other pelvic structures. The gallstones were removed, and histologic analysis revealed a foreign body granuloma surrounding them. The left ovarian cyst corresponded to a serosal cystadenoma.
