Abstract

The LLR STP footprint covers three CCGs, three LAs and three NHS providers, providing care to over a million people with expenditure over -£2 b/annum and over 40 000 staff. Fragmentation of care and the impact on patients is recognised nationally and locally. We must work together better, pool resources and transform care pathways with strong public and patient involvement. The purpose of the project is to develop system identity for all LLR staff. We used the AQuA System Integration framework to establish a baseline in November 2015. An event with over 200 staff explored new models of care. Outputs were analysed using the Mckinsey 7S framework and shared. We developed a culture change strategy from the analysis. This consists of four pillars: Systems Leadership, Joint Purpose and Story, Engagement, and Cross-boundary Change. A ‘system-wide induction’package was developed. The product is a series of five animated stories: What is the LLR health and care system? Why is our system important? What are we seeking to achieve? (covering STP themes), How will we work together? What help is out there? Co-production was fundamental to the development. One-to-one interviews and focus groups with staff across the system explored key messages. Sessions with the Public and Patient Involvement Group, Communications leads, and System Leadership Team refined the content into a script. Visuals were used throughout the process to engage with pictures as well as words. Three guiding principles emerged: It’s is about caring for people; working together as a team (not just cooperating but collaborating) and appreciating each other’s roles (essential to joined up working). The finished product will feed staff induction, leadership development and communications within partner organisations. The films will be available online for all staff allowing consistent messaging. For evaluation AQuA System Integration questionnaire will be re-run in late 2017 and again in 2019.
