Abstract

CABG being one of the most common types of cardiac surgery, lowers the risk of Myocardial Infarctions and patients can remain symptom free for as long as 10-15 years. Though this surgery became more common, there are 2 methods of performing CABG, and they are On-pump and Off-pump techniques. Recent studies reveals several advantages for Off-pump technique than performing On-pump technique. So the intention of this study was to analyze if there is anyphysiological significance of doing On-pump over Off-pump technique. The physiological parameter being considered in this study includes Blood urea level. Post CABG results of blood urea level showed almost similar outcomes among both the techniques of performing CABG surgery. Thus, renal function is unaffected by the technique if CABG, whether with or without cardiopulmonary bypass, in spite of the theoretical advantage of off-pump surgery.
