Abstract

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major public health concern worldwide, and it is often associated with a spectrum of intracranial pathology, including parenchymal or intraventricular hemorrhage, diffuse axonal injury, as well as brain injury from extra-axial hematomas. Recently some authors have investigated the utility of serum biochemical markers in TBI. The presence of serum biomarkers with a clear impact on patient’s management is already well established in cardiology (5) .I n contrast, in the diseases of the central nervous system (CNS), the usefulness of serum markers is still under debate.
