Abstract
Blood coagulation is a sword with two edges. On the one hand, it is quickly activated after trauma to blood vessels and thereby prevents excessive blood loss. On the other hand, the inappropriate activation of coagulation leads to blockage of blood vessels, manifesting clinically as arterial and venous thrombosis. The growing recognition that thrombosis is important in the pathogenesis of a variety of diseases has led to the search for effective and safe anti-thrombotic agents.
