Abstract

This chapter deals with twinned topoi of and in book of Isaiah. The book is about the vision thing, to use George Bush's inspired phrase for purposes other than ones he had in mind. It also utilizes images and notions of transformation, transvaluation and transmogrification, so combination of variations on these sets of images in conjunction with dynamics of transformation provides one good way of reading whole book of Isaiah. The discourse of vision is everywhere in book. The and insight topoi are also discussed in terms of blindness and deafness, for loss of physical capacities stands for metaphysical condition of community. The author's blindsight reading of Isaiah is heavily influenced by Paul de Man's notion of and insight. Keywords: blindness; book of Isaiah; insight; Paul de Man; vision thing
