Abstract

It is well-known that interbank precoders can be applied in blind identification and equalization of finite impulse response (FIR) channels. In this paper, a blind channel identification algorithm based on nonmaximally decimated FIR multirate filterbank precoders is proposed. The proposed algorithm is not sensitive to the characteristics of unknown channel and performs well even with nonminimum phase channels. Using the identification algorithm, a minimum mean square error (MMSE) FIR equalizer is proposed. It is shown that, the proposed equalizer outperforms zero forcing (ZF) equalizer. It can mitigate the intersymbol interference (ISI) and depress the noise amplification effect simultaneously, and subsequently maximizes the signal to noise ratio of the system at the receiver. Simulation examples demonstrate their good performance.
