Abstract

The changes in the politics and economics of the countries of Eastern and Central Europe have led to difficulties in the acquisition of printed material from those countries. The article outlines the current means employed by the British Library Document Supply Centre to obtain the items required by its readers and gives some opinions on the future of acquisitions from each of these countries, concluding that future acquisitions will rely much more heavily on purchasing than exchange.
