Abstract

The constant blaze angle that is an attribute of blazed, ruled, concave diffraction gratings gives rise to a passband encompassing a range of wavelengths that depends on the grating parameters. Adding a multilayer coating designed for a wavelength within the passband restricts the passband approximately to that wavelength plus or minus the width of the multilayer rocking curve, which can be much smaller than the passband of the uncoated grating.
