Abstract

In patients with significant bacteriuria in obstructive pyelonephritis without chemotherapy there exists a close coincidence between the bacteriological findings of urethral secretion and urine samples taken from the bladder concerning the gained germs. This can be proven by serotyping. These findings can be explained by a descending secondary contamination of the urethral secretion by germs in the urine. Under strict chemotherapy a sterilisation of the urine in the bladder takes place. During this period the periurethral secretion contains multiple resistant germs which can be found later in the urine of the bladder. Special connections between patients, germs and the type of infection under conditions of an antibacterial chemotherapy of urinary infections are discussed.
