Abstract

plete spinal cord transection (spinal cord injured: SCI) at the T8/T9 level or a sham procedure (nonlesion: NL) were performed. Four weeks later, rats were again anesthetized with isofluorane, a suprapubic and a vein catheter were implanted and tracheotomy was performed for artificial ventilation. Laminectomy was executed at the L2 spinal level. The cervical spinal cord was then transected, and rats were pithed. Animals were immobilized on a stereotaxic device, connected to an artificial ventilator and pancuronium (0.2 mg/kg) was i.v. injected.
