Abstract

The Identity of Blacks is a major problem that has opposed Western scholars to African scholars during colonialism and a few years following postcolonialism. In fact,Colonization had significant impacts in the African states. It seems that during colonization, the white man had a totally different image of Blacks as opposed to how African people viewed themselves in terms of their identity. Because the White man assumed that Blacks, no matter where they could be, had no proper image of themselves, there was a huge tendency for white folks to consider Blacks as savage people and completely evils. My aim purpose in this essay is to try to analyze issues related to Black identity by putting an emphasis on colonization as the main foundation. In order to do so, I am going to examine the why and how the White man had transformed and distorted Black identity. Thus, I intend to explore new paths to try to restore the real identity of Blacks nowadays.
