Abstract
Male rats given a combination of the peripheral DOPA decarboxylase inhibitor Ro 4-4602 and DOPA, showed motor excitation as well as a peculiar and bizarre pattern of social behaviour. The central excitation and bizarre social interaction could be abolished or interrupted by low doses of the dopamine antagonist haloperidol. The possible role of brain dopamine in this social behaviour is discussed.
