Abstract
Tracheal chemosensory brush cells are cholinergic chemosensors expressing bitter taste receptors and further components of the taste transduction pathway. These cells are in close contact with cholinoreceptive intra-epithelial sensory nerve fibers (Krasteva et al., PNAS 108(23):9478-83, 2011).
