Abstract

SummaryThis paper presents the performance of maximum ratio combining (MRC) diversity receiver over shadowed Beaulieu‐Xie (SBX) fading model. The SBX model is used to characterise wireless communication environments that include multiple numbers of line‐of‐sight (LOS) and non‐line‐of‐sight (NLOS) signals. The probability density function (PDF) of the MRC scheme over the SBX channel has been derived. The PDF‐based approach has been used to calculate the outage performance and average bit error rate of several modulation schemes for coherent and non‐coherent signals. It has also been shown how the diversity orders and the fading channel's parameters affect the system's performance. To authenticate the evaluated expressions, Monte‐Carlo simulation results are used for validation. The SBX model is used to characterise wireless communication environments that include multiple numbers of LOS and NLOS signals.
