Abstract

An equipment set of microwave scattering measurements is presented with full polarizations and a wide frequency from 10 MHz to 40 GHz. The system used for this network analyzer consists of three groups of antenna, in which one group antenna with a range of 1∼18 GHz can be used to measure the scattering coefficients of samples of sand of different sized particles using different azimuths and incidence angles. Using the object-limited measurements and the metal calibration, the scattering coefficients of three samples of sand of different sized particles were accurately obtained by measuring the same area sand samples and metal plates, including both forward-scattering and backscattering measurements. The results show that the scattering coefficients of three samples of sand of different sized particles can be measured using this network analyzer system.
