Abstract

Silylenes have shown coordination strength within the range of the well-studied phosphanes and carbene ligands, however, their transition metal (TM) complexes are rare in the catalytic arena. On the other hand, pincer ligands are wide spread in catalysis due to the versatile features in their chemical structure (i.e. electron density, steric effects, rigidity, solubility, etc.). Herein, we report the synthesis of novel bis-silylene monoanionic SiCHSi and neutral SiNSi pincer ligands, and their late TMs complexes. These systems act as catalysts in the borylation of arenes, Sonogashira coupling, and hydrosilation of ketones. Remarkably, these ligands exhibit higher -donor strength than phosphanes and a reaction intermediate from a C-C coupling reaction was also isolated and is reported.
