Abstract

The title complex, [Cd2(S2O3)2(C14H12N2)2], presents a dimeric structure with the novel feature of having the thiosulfate group acting as both a bridging and a bidentate ligand. This unusual coordination mode leads to an S—S bond length in the mid-range of those found in the S-bridging thiosulfates, but longer than those observed in monodentate S-bonded complexes. The pentacoordinate CdII center exhibits a distorted environment.
