Abstract

The relationship between birth order and religiosity was studied using specific questions concerning birth order, sex, and frequency of church attendance. Subjects were 68 male and 69 female college students at a small, southern, private, church college. Due to high need affiliation, dependency, and conformity noted in firstborns, it was hypothesized that they would be more religious than laterborn individuals but results did not support the hypothesis statistically ( P > .05). The homogeneity of the students was a critical factor.
