Abstract

Although the opening of the London Eye has made the bird's-eye view of the capital accessible to all, London is now obviously too large to grasp in its entirety. But even in the time of Hollar, the depiction of the whole was illusory. This article presents a brief summary of depictions of London from elevated viewpoints.
