Abstract

The article analyses the significance of the suffrage and its basic elements, as one of the vital guarantee of the exercise of political rights of citizens in a democratic society and in a legal system. The first part of the article is dedicated to the basic characteristics of human rights. Suffrage is the first analysed as a part of the widest unity - as a human right, and afterwards as a political and electoral right. After analysis of the basic characteristics and features of suffrage, the author outlines general conclusions on suffrage and its importance.
