Abstract

Is there a progress in History? The source of this question hinges upon the issue regarding with the facilities provided to people by both scientific and technical devolopments. On the other hand it has often been remarked that the idea of progress is also related to the doctrine of providence which says that every act of man is due to the final task which God has set for His creatures. Here is an interpretation of the mundane process of historical progress as intimately interrelated with Divine Providence. This correlation is also found in the writing of Renaissance and Enligtenment thinkers. In these article, I will discuss two problematics; the first of these is historical reality and the other one is common purpose.
