Abstract
The purpose of this research is to provide a description of the oral examinations at the Izmir University of Economics (IUE) for the senior students in 7th and 8th semester conducted in German as a second foreign language and to evaluate the feedback from students regarding these examinations. The subjects of this study are the 4th (final) year students in German classes at the School of Foreign Languages of the IEU. By using qualitative research methods, an open ended question about the three stages of the oral exam has been asked and the answers evaluated. The data collected showed that 83% of the students were satisfied with the oral exams. As these exams are a positive force in the development of students\' conversational skills, it was decided to administer an oral component in the final exams at all levels of German classes alongside the written ones as of 2008-2009 Fall Semester.
