Abstract

Professor B. S. Worthington, the new President of the BIR from 1st October 1988, holds the Chair of Diagnostic Radiology in the University of Nottingham. He commenced his medical training in 1956 at Guy's Hospital as “Ken Clifford” open scholar, and after obtaining an Honours Degree in Physiology went on to qualify in 1963. He trained in radiology at the London Hospital and was a Rohan Williams medallist in qualifying FFR in 1969. He moved to Nottingham in 1970 as a Consultant General Radiologist and a year later was appointed to a newly created post in Neuroradiology. He became Reader in Diagnostic Radiology in 1975 and was promoted to a personal chair in 1981.
