Abstract

A solid-state linear transformer driver (LTD) has been developed based on push-pull circuit for tumor ablation. The single LTD module has four push-pull branches in its primary side and a short-circuited branch with two RCD snubbers, it can output bipolar rectangular pulses with short rise time and with pulse width ranging from hundreds of nanoseconds to several microseconds. A single LTD module and a four-stage LTD have been tested and the results show they can output bipolar rectangular pulses successfully. The pulse widths can be adjusted flexibly from 300 nanoseconds to several microseconds with different output voltages. The four-stage LTD can provide 1.9 kV bipolar nanosecond rectangular pulses, the rise time is about 15 ns, the flat top drop of waveform is about 1.1 % and the reverse overshoot is about 5.3 %.
