Abstract

Abstract The Escuminac Formation is dated middle Frasnian based on standard miospore zones. For the first time, acritarchs and scolecodonts are reported which suggest a marine influence during the depositional process of the formation. Stratigraphic distributions are provided for the vertebrate, invertebrate and plant species found in the Escuminac Formation. Geological ranges of eight fish genera (including Plourdosteus and Cheirolepis ) occurring in the Escuminac Formation and other localities are compared and revised.
