Abstract
The ecological limits of global economic growth are determined by the biosphere's potential as a source of primary energy resources. In conditions when humanity already consumes 20 percent of all the organic matter produced by terrestrial ecosystems, ecological sustainability is becoming a factor of no small importance in regional development and should be taken into account in assessing the prospects for development of Siberia.
