Abstract
The influence factors of pH and contact time were used to evaluated the biosorption ability of the heavy metal cadmium (CdII) onto the lyophilized Zygosaccharomyces rouxii CICC1379 biomass from aqueous solutions. And the biosorption equilibrium models of biosorption and biosorption kinetics modeling were also studied. The initial pH of the aqueous solution with Cd(II) had strongly influences on the biosorption and the optimum initial pH was 5∼7. The biosorption process of Cd(II) onto the yeast was rapid and the biosorption value reached its maximum within approximately 30 min. Langmuir isotherm model shows a better fit with the equilibrium data than the Freundlich isotherm model does. The analysis on the biosorption kinetics data at 30 °C indicated the rate of biosorption of Cd(II) fitted well with the pseudo-second order kinetics. The results of this study indicated the possible application of Cd(II) removal from the water onto the lyophilized yeast biomass.
