Abstract

The synthesis of plant constituents can be regulated. A number of bioregulators can affect the biosynthesis of constituents in plant tissues. Generally, these compounds stimulate the production of the constituents, unlike some of the herbicides such as certain pyridazinone types which inhibit the biosynthetic pathways.1–3 We will examine the bioregulators and the nature of their effect on plant constituents, particularly the effect on the isoprenoid constituents in plant tissues.
