Biopsychosocial Wellbeing among Women with Gynaecological Cancer

Abstract

Introduction: Cancer is one of the non-communicable diseases which has brought burden to medical personnel, paramedical health workers as well as general population. The purpose of the study was to identify the biopsychosocial wellbeing of the women after undergoing treatment for Gynecological cancer. Design: A descriptive study was used to identify the physical psychological, social and spiritual domain of sixty women with gynecological cancer, using non-probability purposive sampling technique who came for follow up in the outpatient department of oncology after two months of undergoing the treatment. Result: This study showed that women with gynecological cancer had moderate 27(45) biopsychosocial wellbeing. There was a positive significant relationship among physical and psychological (r=0.424,p<0.00) as well as physical and social domain (r=0.335,p<0.00) of biopsychosocial wellbeing. There existed a positive significant relationship between spiritual and psychological domain (r=0.496, p<0.00) psychological and social domain (r=0.401,p<0.00) Conclusion: Women with gynecological cancer had moderate wellbeing, thus this study gives better understanding about the life of cancer survivors and its effects on the biological, psychological, social and spiritual wellbeing of the women.
