Abstract

Climate change is the major topic of concern that has influenced every living entity on earth. Due to human interventions many organic and inorganic wastes are released that has led to tremendous changes on the surface of earth and in the atmosphere. Such changes have resulted in global warming and finally resulted in uncontrolled pollution, climate change and water crisis. Biotechnological intervention resulted in introduction of efficient and eco-friendly techniques and products to combat the changes brought by human intervention. Agricultural biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, mycobiotechnology, etc. are some of the biotechnological branches that are dealing with climate change and controlling water crisis. Some of the outcomes of biotechnological intervention are genetically modified crops, bioplastics, biochips, biofuel, biofertilizers, etc. that degrades and utilizes the unwanted dumps on earth’s surface and converts them into eco-friendly and efficient products thus replaced the harmful chemicals. Nanotechnology, a recent technology based on nanosized particles proved to be an effective way of preventing climate change and water treatment processes, thereby introducing nanocatalyst, nanoseive, nanotubes, etc. and contributes maximum efficiency with minimum consumption of energy. Therefore, biotechnological intervention turns out to be a positive approach to tackle global issues on climate change and water crisis that have affected billions of lives and disturbed the ecosystem.
