Abstract

Using second harmonic generation and fluorescence anisotropy methods, we monitored adsorption of water-soluble peptoids to phospholipid bilayers at varying pH conditions and temperatures. We compared equilibrium binding constants and relative surface coverages of different peptoids sequences as we varied the cholesterol content, head group charge and physical phase of the lipids. We also collected pressure-area isotherms of lipid monolayers in the presence and absence of peptoids to gain insight into the physical principles that govern how peptoid sequence and membrane composition alter peptoid-lipid interactions.
