Abstract
Biometrics has been kicking around for two decades or more in laboratories and been gleaming in the eyes of IT security marketing people for almost as long, but only recently made any great headway in the field. But the recent growth, mostly in government applications, has created significant teething problems, notably interoperability and integration into IT security management, that threaten to inhibit take up within the commercial sphere.
