Abstract
Biomedics is one of the most important new research fields. The development of drugs and health care is of major importance for the general public. To create more openness and to promote development, Open Source initiatives from the ICT domain have been applied to biomedics. There are however certain problems arising, especially if commercial companies are invited to join the projects. This paper aims at identifying the problems that occur as a result of the tension between traditional proprietary regimes and new approaches such as Open Source and also tries to give a starting point for solving the issues.
