Abstract

In recent decades, artificial intelligence (AI) is widely used in various fields of human life. One of the most promising areas of AI is medical imaging. Medical imaging provides an increasing number of features derived from different types of analysis, including AI, neural networks, fuzzy logic, etc. The selection of image processing features and AI technologies can be used as a medical diagnostics tools. AI is used to help and improve numerous aspects of the healthcare system. AI tools and techniques provide considerable insight to power predictive visual analysis. The recent growing applications of AI techniques in biomedical engineering and informatics used knowledge-based reasoning in disease classification, which is used to learn and discover novel biomedical knowledge for disease treatment. AI is used to detect disease in an earlier stage and guide diagnosis for early treatment with imaging technologies. AI applications are used and implemented in various biomedical fields for analyzing diseases like myocardial infarction, skin disorders, etc. The tools and techniques of AI are useful for solving many biomedical problems with the use of computer-related equipped hardware and software applications. This chapter provides a thorough overview of the ongoing evolution in the application of biomedical engineering and informatics using AI techniques and tools. It gives a deeper insight 52into the technological background of AI and the impacts of new and emerging technologies on biomedical engineering and informatics.
