Abstract

Q. Ma, X. Chen, and co-workers describe on page 4910 a new kind of biocompatible and biodegradable ultrasmall AuNR@poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)/poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) plasmonic vesicles (ca. 60 nm) assembled from small gold nanorods. The vesicles exhibit prominent tumor uptake and can be rapidly excreted from the body after dual positron emission tomography (PET) and photoacoustic-imaging-guided efficacious cancer therapy.
