Abstract

This study was carried out to evaluate the status of Wild Rice (Oryza rufipogon) biomass at Tram Chim National Park, Dong Thapprovince for the preservation of biomes and forest fire prevention. The samples had been collected by randomly design with 9 standard plots and each standard plot contains 3 subplots with 1m × 1m in size. The characteristics were assessed including mass, height, water levels and biomass of Wild Rice at each plot. The results showed that the Wild Rice community appeared in 27 samling plots with a total area of 697.8 ha in which the lowest and highest areas of Wild Rice were respectively 1.3 ha and 162.3 ha. In addition, the fresh and dry biomass in each community were 44.85±23.1 tonnes/ha and 9.24±3.37 tonnes/ha, respectively. The relationship between water depth and vegetation active-layer thickness were closely correlated (r = 0.71).
