Abstract

Ultrafine Pt nanoparticle immobilized catalysts were developed via a facile one-step biomass-derived carbon thermal curing process. The electrochemical investigation confirms that benefits from the lower oxygen mass transfer resistance and electron transfer resistance, the as-prepared catalysts displayed a discharge power density of 1.246 W cm−2 at 2000 mA cm−2 when assembled in an H2-air fuel cell. This research not only develops a new electrocatalyst but also paves the way for the rational design and synthesis of superior electrocatalysts for energy storage and conversion.
